Chop Chop Inc. Battery — Recipe & Electronics Press Unlock
✔ Last checked: 2026-08-12
Batteries are not hard to craft. They are hard to become able to craft. The recipe shows up in your list early, the game later demands one, and nothing on your property will make it — because the machine that makes batteries is gated behind a mission chain most people speed past, and its recipe is a glowing object lying on the ground that a whole Discord channel missed.
🔌 Bonus finding: electric trees are no longer a mystery. Our stone tree page has flagged “electric trees exist officially, role unverified” since before launch. Batteries are the answer — Electric Wood is battery feedstock. That closes a gap we’d been carrying for weeks.
What we can and can’t stand behind
| Claim | Status |
|---|---|
| Batteries require the Electronics Press (a.k.a. Electro Juicer) | ✅ Confirmed — forum players and every guide agree |
| You build the press next to the furnace outside your house | ✅ Confirmed — Steam answer, reported as matching dev guidance |
| Its recipe is a glowing ground pickup by the Eternal Spinner | ✅ Confirmed — multiple independent sources, and the #1 stuck point |
| Batteries feed the Tech Bridge | ✅ Confirmed — named as a main quest objective on Steam |
| Batteries also recharge the Eternal Spinner | 🟡 Reported — guides say so, forum threads focus on the bridge |
| Recipe: 1 Metal Ingot + 4 Electric Wood | 🟡 Reported — two guides agree, and a third pointedly refuses to publish counts |
| Press build cost: 8 Piles of Screws, 20 Metal Ingots, 2 Hamsters | 🔄 Single-source — plausible, unverified, do not budget around it |
| Whether the trigger NPC is the fish or the duck cult | 🔄 Sources genuinely disagree — see below |
The chain that unlocks it
Broadly consistent across the Steam thread and three guides:
- Build the elevator that reaches the world above — the dark magical area where Harold lives among talkable ducks.
- Do Harold’s mission. Reports describe mushroom collecting.
- The duck business happens. Harold’s crowd cooks a duck named Luis. You take cooked Luis and leave promptly, because Harold shoots people who linger.
- Take Luis to the duck cult and talk to Walter, who sends the remains to their rightful place. Luis comes back. Roll with it.
- Pick up the glowing recipe next to the Eternal Spinner. This is the step everyone fails. It is a pickup, not a reward popup.
- Build the Electronics Press by the furnace, then craft batteries on demand.
Where sources diverge: one guide and the Steam thread credit a fish character named Sir, who turns up on your house wall, with putting the recipe in play. Others tell it purely as the duck-cult sequence. Everyone agrees on the outcome — a glowing pickup near the spinner — so navigate to that object and stop worrying about which animal is responsible.
Don’t stockpile these
Batteries are gate keys, not currency. A guide put it better than we would: crafting the battery isn’t the win condition, spending it on the gate that named it is. Make them when a mission asks and route your Electric Wood there rather than hoarding a shelf of them.
One real number we can cite: hotfix #4 cut Metal Ingots from two metal wood to one, so the ingot half of any battery got cheaper on August 11. Update before you judge the cost.

FAQ
How do you craft batteries in Chop Chop Inc.?
You need the Electronics Press, also called the Electro Juicer. Batteries appear in the crafting list long before you can make them, which is why so many players think the game is broken. Get the press first — the battery itself is a short recipe.
Where do I build the Electronics Press?
Next to the furnace outside your house. A player on the Steam forums gave this answer and reported that it matches what the developers said, which is the strongest sourcing available for it right now.
I have the battery recipe but there's nowhere to craft it. Is this a bug?
No, and this is the most common false alarm at launch. Having the recipe is not the same as having the machine. If nothing will craft a battery, you are missing the Electronics Press, not fighting a broken save.
What are batteries used for?
Repairing or building the Tech Bridge is the confirmed mission use, and guides also report recharging the Eternal Spinner. They are progression consumables, not everyday crafting material — make them when something asks.
