The add-ons (new since launch)
| Product | Released | Price | What it is |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ducks, Dollars and Dark Beginnings (Short Story) | Aug 10, 2026 | $1.99 | An official humorous short story set in the game’s world — about the ducks |
| Original Soundtrack | Aug 10, 2026 | $3.99 | 45 minutes by Felix Bachlinger and Paul Stähr |
Neither is a gameplay expansion. No content pack, no season pass, no deluxe gameplay edition has been announced. If you’re deciding what to buy: the base game is the game, and these two are for people who finished it and want more of the bit.
NullRef also flagged a bundle pairing Chop Chop Inc. with Solarpunk at 15% off, with additional bundles awaiting Steam approval as of the launch post.
Discounts
- Base game: never discounted. Don’t wait on a launch sale that isn’t coming.
- itch.io: the DRM-free version remains planned with no date, and early Discord members were promised an additional discount there whenever it appears.
- Free option: the demo survived launch and still costs exactly zero.
Is it worth $12.99? (the honest version)
Now we can actually answer this, because people have played it.
In favour: Steam reviews sit at Very Positive. Players report 10–17 hours, which is a strong ratio at this price. The recurring praise is that it’s far deeper than the cheerful art suggests — one reviewer described being “kidnapped” for eleven hours in one sitting. Humor, exploration and the mid-game progression loop get consistent love.
Against: the late game thins out. Reviewers describe 40-plus volume missions, automation that doesn’t scale as far as factory-sim fans want, and real UI friction — no recipe search, no key rebinding. And there’s the save-overwrite bug, which is the one genuine buyer-beware item: one save slot, no confirmation on New Game.
Our read: at coffee money, for a strong 10–15 hour comedy sim from three people, yes — with the caveat that you should treat the main menu with suspicion and expect the ending to be softer than the opening.
