Chop Chop Inc. Demo — Still Free on Steam After Launch

✔ Last checked: 2026-08-15

The free demo survived launch. We re-checked on August 12 — five days after release — and Steam still lists and serves Chop Chop Inc. Demo as a free download. If you want to test the chopping before spending coffee money, that door is still open.

Verified post-launch. Demo confirmed still live on August 12, 2026. Everything below distinguishes what’s demo-only from what’s in the released game.

Demo vs. the released game

This is the part that actually matters now, and most of it is confirmed rather than guessed:

Demo Released game
Length ~2+ hours directed 10–17 hours (player-reported)
UI Original Fully redesigned (official)
Languages English EN, DE, FR, ES, PT-BR, ZH-Hans, RU
Achievements 21
Furniture catalog Starter set Substantially expanded (official)
Firewood minigame Present Removed in hotfix #2
Automation Barely Auto-harvester and friends — see automation

That firewood minigame deletion is our favorite patch note of the week. It existed, players met it, and the developers quietly took it out behind the woodshed on launch day.

Does demo progress carry into the full game?

No — plan on starting fresh. The demo is a separate Steam app with its own save file, NullRef never announced any transfer path, and across five days of released-game reviews and forum threads nobody has reported inheriting demo progress. This was an open question on August 4; it is now answered in the boring direction.

Small mercy: the released game’s opening is faster than the demo’s, and you’ll already know where the stone tree is.

A note on “free download” sites

Searches like “chop chop inc igg” or “skidrow” lead to piracy sites. The legitimate free version is this demo; the full game costs $12.99. Cracked installers for small indie games are a classic malware delivery vehicle, and the game is now cheap enough that the risk math is frankly insulting. Chop responsibly.

Found a bug?

The devs still want reports via the in-game feedback forms first, then their Discord — a pipeline that visibly worked, given nine hotfixes in the first week. Live release issues are tracked on Errors & fixes.

FAQ

Is the Chop Chop Inc. demo still available after launch?

Yes. We re-checked the Steam listing on August 12, five days after release, and the demo is still published and downloadable for free. It did not get pulled on launch day.

How long is the demo compared to the full game?

The demo runs roughly two-plus hours of directed content. Released-game reviewers report 10–17 hours for a full playthrough, so the demo is genuinely a slice, not a sample platter.

Does demo progress transfer to the full game?

No — treat it as a practice run. The demo is a separate Steam app with its own save, NullRef never announced a transfer, and no released-game player has reported inherited progress. Start fresh.

Is the demo the same as the released game?

No. The release build has a fully redesigned UI, a much larger furniture catalog, seven languages instead of two, 21 achievements, and machines the demo never showed. The firewood minigame in the demo was removed from the release build entirely.
